Born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Studies of mechanical and electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich, graduating as Dipl.-Ing. Qualification to German and European Patent and Trademark Attorney, joining a prestigious Patent Office, after a few years Managing Partner and responsible for the reorganization of the patent office into a patent and lawyer’s partnership.
Specialized in patent litigation, invalidity actions, appeal and opposition proceedings and furthermore many years of experience in patents, designs, utility models and trademarks, essentially active in licensing matters with regard to technology sales of big and medium-sized enterprises, patent portfolio valuation.
Special technical knowledge of general mechanical engineering and electrical machines, materials technology, vehicle construction, semiconductor technology, ceramics and glass technology, plastics processing and metal forming, , as well as many years of experience in direct counselling of US companies.
Member of the German and international associations for Patent Attorneys and Intellectual Property, such as AIPLA, AIPPI, CIPA, FICPI, GRUR, INTA, LES, ECTA, deputy member of the EPI council.
Author of scientific publications about mill technology and continuous casting.
Member of the Rotary Club, for many years executive member of the Board of the German Ski Association ASV and approx. 15 years of responsibility for the alpine skiing of Allgäu-Nord of the ASV.

Vanessa Bockhorni is a German Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney. She studied law for Patent and Trademark Attorneys at the University of Hagen, Germany and graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a first class BScHonours degree in Biotechnology, specialising in immunology, molecular and cellular biology.
She was educated at the German Patent and Trademark Office as well as the German Federal Patent Court in Munich and obtained in-service training at Bockhorni & Colleagues.
Her finals Honour project, supported by Immune System Therapeutics Ltd. (ISTL), involved “Mapping the Epitope of a Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibody using Site-directed Mutagenesis”. Vanessa Bockhorni gained further experience in the areas of cancer research at ISTL and in the areas of biochemical plant pathology at the Bavarian State Research Centre for Agriculture and the German Research Centre for Environmental Health.
After qualifying as Certified International Economic Specialist from the Bavarian Academy for foreign economics in 2004, Vanessa Bockhorni gained experience in the marketing department at Saint-Gobain Industries in France.
Since April 2012, Vanessa works as German Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney in our office. Vanessa represents clients in all IP matters before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Office of Harmonization in the Internal Market and in infringement proceedings before the civil courts in Germany. Apart from her expertise in trademark and design related disputes her focus lies on inventions in the area of Biotechnology.
Member of several IP associations such as Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys, European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI), International Trademark Association (INTA), Association of European Trademark Owners (MARQUES), the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG), Young European Biotech Network (YEBN), member of terre des hommes.

Thorsten Brüntjen is admitted as a European Patent Attorney, a European Trademark and Design Attorney, and as a German Patent Attorney since 2011.
As a physicist, as well as German and European Patent Attorney, his counselling and cooperation with clients ranges since 2007 to small, medium and large-sized companies operating on a national and international level. Thorsten Brüntjen is familiar with all aspects of the IP sector. His focus lies on the drafting and prosecution of patent and design applications, oppositions and nullity proceedings, German’s inventor’s rights and on litigation proceedings from IP rights.
Due to his technical-physical background, Thorsten Brüntjen covers a large technical profile including mechanical and electromechanical engineering, general physics and computer-implemented inventions. He has special technical knowledge in software, embedded systems, bioinformatics, micro- and nanotechnology, semiconductor and coating technology, plastics processing, insulation technology, driver’s assistance systems and vehicle battery and accumulator technology.
Thorsten Brüntjen obtained an in-service training at Bockhorni & Colleagues in Munich in the years from 2008 to 2010 and was educated at the German Patent and Trademark Office as well as at the German Federal Patent Court. He has successfully worked in the Munich office of a renowned German patent law firm for several years thereafter and moved back to Bockhorni & Colleagues in 2018.
As part of his studies in theoretical physics and mathematics, Thorsten Brüntjen completed a further two year research stay at the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique in Orsay, Paris.
Thorsten Brüntjen is the author of several articles in the field of patent law including „Zur Vertraulichkeit von Internetrecherchen“, published in GRUR 9/2013, which principally discusses whether internet searches may constitute prior art in patent law.

Annemarie Blum von Ann studied law at the University of Hamburg. Upon conclusion of the second state examination in law, she acquired the Doctor of Laws at the University of Hamburg.
Annemarie Blum von Ann worked for several well-known companies on a national and international level. Amongst others, she was the head of the legal and patents department of GRUNDIG Inter-media GmbH in Nuremberg as well as head of the legal department and authorized signatory at EMTEC Magnetics GmbH based in Ludwigshafen, which, as a former subsidiary of BASF AG, operated under the name BASF Magnetics GmbH.
Since 1989, Annemarie Blum von Ann is accredited lawyer before all German local and regional courts. She is authorized to representation before the Federal Patent Court, the German Patent and Trademark Office as well as the Office for Harmonization for the Internal Market in Alicante. She disposes of an extensive professional experience in national and international economic law, con-tract law, competitive law, license law, trademark and patent law. She joined our Office in January 2010.

Sabine Röhler as a lawyer is specialized in intellectual property law. Therefore in particular she advises our clients in trademark affairs, design law, competition and copyright law, patent infrigment procedures as well as the elaboration of licence contracts.
Sabine Röhler studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, followed by her legal traineeship in Munich.
During her legal training she gained intellectual property law experience in a big international law firm, working as a student assistant. After her examination first she started working in a prestigious commercial law firm in Munich.

Dr. Stefan Mederle-Hoffmeister studied Physics and minored in IT at the University in Augsburg. Upon his graduation as physicist, he wrote his dissertation at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids based in Dresden and simultaneously conferred his doctorate at the Technical University in Dresden.
Subsequently, he did his training in intellectual property accompanied by a study “law for patent attorneys” at the Open University in Hagen and a two-months internship at the Patent Litigation Chamber of the Regional Court I of Munich. After a practical training period at the German Patent and Trademark Office and at the Federal Patent Court in Munich, he received his accreditation as German Patent Attorney and Representative before the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market. The accreditation as Representative before the European Patent Office followed.
The professional work of Mr. Dr. Stefan Mederle-Hoffmeister ranges from the whole area of intellectual property, technical emphasis lies on mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics and material knowledge, semi-conductor technology as well as packaging technology. He is in cooperation with our office.
